things are looking up!!! (my whiteboard and whiteboard wallpaper finally came)

i recently became a member of the the moma and i am quite pleased with its benefits. free admission to the museum and to ps1 (including the warm-up dance parties), members only previews, and members only “last chance[s]” to view exhibitions. tonight i did the last, and caught cezanne to picasso: paintings from the david and peggy rockefeller collection, the special exhibit i had missed on saturday. while there were only nine paintings not already in the permanent collection, it was great. i especially enjoyed andre derain’s charing cross bridge, an example of fauvism in which “colors became charges of dynamite.”

sunday bbq at josh and deys’ new pad in lefferts garden. we grilled pizzas and drank dark & stormy’s with home made ginger beer. my contribution to the effort was a peach and mango salsa and my master dough rolling technique.

big day in new york with the fri. started with bagels and lox from russ & daughters, a trip to take a photo at the seinfeld restaurant, and a visit to the moma. at the moma we viewed song dong’s projects 90, an exhibition of the complete contents of the artist’s mother’s home, amassed over fifty years and inspired by the chiense concept wu jin qi yong, or “waste not.” a rather humbling exhibit.

then bri crossed off his #9 thing to do before he dies: watch the yankees lose in a new york bar. we spent the remainder of the night eating and doing crossword puzzles - is there a better way to spend a saturday night in new york city? i think not.

day activity was visiting this solar shed that we’re going to use as a display at various events throughout long island.

night activity was hanging with bri, actively listening to music, meeting the crew at the library and then cakeshop, and taking personality tests.

the fri is in town. we’re having a family reunion.

orange you glad it’s sherbet? orange zest, orange juice, lemon juice, vanilla, and milk. tastes like an orange julius!

a nice day of leisure and lillet with the ladies. then went to see ji’s band, ¡go kat go! at cakeshop.

what a lucky day. spent the afternoon leisuring with whitney - brunching, parking, and marveling over the beauty of the day. then lucked out on a hercules & love affair show in williamsburg.

killed two birds with one stone tonight. attended the “it came from brooklyn” concert series at the guggenheim, where i was not only able to see the walkmen, high places, and the brooklyn steppers marching band, but i finally got to view the frank lloyd wright exhibit, “from within outward.”
